Vergnet is attending the annual Royal Highland Show 2015, running from 18th – 21st June, at the Royal Highland Centre, Edinburgh.
Now in its 175th year, the event has been billed as the biggest and best celebration of farming, food and rural life and attracts in excess of 178,000 visitors over four days.
One of the main attractions of the show this year is a focus on renewable energy, with a dedicated area to showcase the latest solutions in wind energy and demonstrate the benefits of adopting renewable energy sources
With over 25 years’ experience and 900 wind turbines installed globally, Vergnet continues to lead the way in renewable energy solutions throughout the UK, including installation of a 275kW GEV MP-R wind turbine on J&J Wyllie’s Ruchlaw Farm, East Lothian.
Father and son pig farmers, James and Jamie Wyllie (J&J Wyllie) saw diversification through wind energy as an attractive investment for their agricultural business.
The family business farms over 2,700 sows and 1,000 ewes at Ruchlaw and two additional units in Berwickshire and Lanarkshire.
The electricity from the 275kW Vergnet turbine powers the pig unit enabling J&J Wyllie to control their energy costs and make costs savings, with excess power being fed into the grid.
The Wyllies are benefitting from the Feed‐in Tariff, a UK scheme that supports energy production from renewable energy sources. It remains a particularly attractive incentive for farmers, businesses and investors installing medium size wind energy projects.
Vergnet will be attending the Royal Highland Show and a representative will be available to discuss our market-leading wind turbines for medium wind energy projects.
If you are a farmer, landowner or land agent attending the show, interested in diversifying in wind energy and would like to find out more about our high performance wind turbines, please contact our UK office to arrange an appointment on +44 (0)20 709 266 92.
