Vergnet, a global leader in the distributed wind energy industry and manufacturer of medium scale wind turbines is celebrating five years in the UK market today.
Headquartered in France, the company, which has a 25 year track record and over 900 wind turbines installed worldwide, is celebrating its success at the UK’s largest farm machinery, equipment and agricultural services show.
Within a short five year period, the global leader has gone from strength to strength, completing 28 projects on farms throughout the UK and launching a dedicated full UK Operations and Maintenance (O&M) service last year.
Vergnet has turbines on farms in Cornwall, Leicester, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Northumberland, Nottinghamshire, Suffolk, East Lothian, the Scottish Borders and Northern Ireland.
The company’s outlook in the UK for 2015 is positive with many projects in the pipeline and plans the official opening of its UK subsidiary this quarter.
Vergnet’s UK spokesperson, Diana Popa commented: “It seems wholly appropriate to celebrate our continued growth in the UK with the farming and landowning community that we work so closely with. We have had a broadly successful five years and are powering up for 2015.”
“Figures from RenewableUK show that the last five years have been positive for small and medium wind. With the UK’s prolific wind resource and the Feed In Tariff (FiT) remaining as an attractive incentive, offering a strong IRR (Internal Rate of Return), we expect 2015 to be a strong year.”
Vergnet continues to develop its plans in the UK, following the launch of its dedicated full O&M service in 2014. The service ensures that the company is close at hand and the owners benefit from improved security for business planning as well as control of expenditure and optimum turbine performance.
Since 2010, the company has been installing UK turnkey medium wind energy projects. These projects are comprised of site feasibility, planning, finance, installation, commissioning, FiT (Feed-in Tariff) registration, and a full package of warranties and after sales service. Vergnet Group currently employs 200 people with 70% of the workforce dedicated to design, engineering and operations and maintenance.
The LAMMA ’15 Show took place from 21st to 22nd January 2015 in Alwalton, Peterborough, UK. It is the UK’s largest farm machinery, equipment and agricultural services show.
More and more farm businesses in the UK as keen to benefit from on-site power generation with RenewableUK expecting over 61% to invest in some form of renewable technology in the next five years with over a tenth of all UK farmers expected to have a turbine on their land by 2019.
